Consequences

  • We must remember that alcohol and marijuana are not harmless drugs. While fewer youth are using, those that do choose to use are suffering serious consequences as a result of their use.
  • Youth who are regular users of alcohol and marijuana are:
    • Three times more likely to miss ten or more days from school
    • Eight times more likely to get into trouble with the police
    • Eight times more likely to take part in gang activities
    • Four times more likely to harm their parents
    • Eight times more likely to carry a gun when not in school
    • Nine times more likely to carry a gun when in school
